Magen David Adom is a non-political, not-for-profit humanitarian organisation that depends on supporters from across the world to save more lives.

Volunteering

Every year Magen David Adom offers hundreds of students aged 18 to 25, from across the globe, the chance to participate in their volunteer programme and experience first hand, why Magen David Adom is such a unique organisation.

The extremely successful Volunteer Programme has been running in conjunction with the British Aliyah Department for the last two years and over a hundred students have attended. They have had a wonderful time learning first aid and seeing how MDA works.

The programme runs for six weeks at a time, throughout the year, and volunteers from all of the world participate in this wonderful experience. The programme begins with a week-long intensive first aid training course where subjects such as basic anatomy and physiology, CPR, trauma and dealing with injuries are covered. After completing the course, you work alongside some of the 10,000 medics and paramedics, of which 8,500 are volunteers, going out in ambulances and dealing with real life situations.

More information about the programme is given below.

Magen David Adom Ambulance Volunteer Programme in memory of Yochai Porat Z”l

Maybe you cannot save the whole world, maybe you can only save part of it, but if you are willing to try we have and incredible opportunity to offer you.

This excellent programme run by the International department of Magen David Adom and Israel Experience In. (IEI), brings hundreds of young Jewish people from all over the world to Israel to work side-by-side with Israeli staff and volunteers on ambulances in Israel.

About the Programme

The programme begins with a 60-hour first-aid training course; an intense ten days of learning that covers material ranging from bandaging a simple wound through to CPR and mass casualty incidents. Everything you learn during the week will be invaluable and help you deal with any situation you may be faced with.

The four to six weeks that follow are dedicated to experiencing Israel in the very realest sense. While riding the ambulances in one of our 109 stations, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the Israeli population with its wide diversity of people, its many colors, religions and beliefs. You will be working with Israelis in an Israeli environment, perfecting your Hebrew and making wonderful new friends. All while saving lives.

By taking part in this fantastic programme, you will be working at the very heart of Israeli society, making a major contribution to the people of Israel – and helping to save lives!
